Piedmont Park is one of Atlanta’s most popular locations to visit. Built in 1822 and 140 acres, it has many different attractions to offer including being a favorite photo spot to many Atlanta natives and tourists.

Ian and Jassandra had just moved to the Atlanta area less than a year ago when they contacted me about photographing their wedding. The couple lives less than a few miles from the park and spends many of their evenings having picnics and playing volleyball. Piedmont Park is even where Ian proposed to Jassandra so they knew it would be the perfect location for their engagement photos.

We met up at the park in early November when the leaves were still in their most beautiful Autumn state. We started on the famous stone wall created in the 1800’s. Ian and Jassandra wanted to bring their dog Wrigley which I always say yes to since I have a dog of my own which I’m absolutely in love with. (seriously, please always bring your dogs!)

Next we went over by the water on the other side of where Ian proposed just a few months earlier. It was so sweet for the two of them to be back near that spot that began this lovely adventure. I could tell quickly after meeting up with them that they were an easy going couple who loved being silly and genuinely loved each other.

We did a quick outfit change before heading to our final location. Jassandra conveyed to me early on a specific spot she wanted to be included in her engagement shoot. The field area with the Atlanta cityscape in the background. A perfect location to commemorate their new home.

Ian and Jassandra decided for their second look to do a more formal attire. This is exactly what I recommended to my couples. One casual look and one formal and I always suggest bringing along a bottle of champagne to pop! This makes some of my favorite photos.

Being a Georgia native myself I know Piedmont Park will always be not only a favorite of mine to have photo sessions but also to enjoy with my own family. I have been visiting this park since I was little to go on walks and enjoy the annual festivals. It’s a beautiful piece of Atlanta history that I will always adore.
